Located in the scenic seaside village of Kolympari, 23 km west of Chania, the newly established Avra Imperial Beach Resort & Spa welcomes guests to an oasis of comfort. Situated next to the turquoise waters of Kolymbari beach, Avra Imperial Beach Resort & Spa offers some of the most lavish accommodation in Crete and is located just under 40 minutes’ drive from Chania airport.

Please note the following:

  • The special rate applies to the nights of 2-7 May 2017, inclusive. If you require further nights, these will need to be booked separately.
  • If you would like a room with a pool view, sharing pool, private pool, a suite or family room, please book separately.
  • For reservations cancelled up to 7 days prior to arrival, no cancellation fee applies.
  • Cancellations less than 7 days prior to the day your reservation starts and no shows will be charged 100% of the booking fee.

Where to fly

There are two airports to choose from when flying into Crete:

  • Chania Airport – 42km from the Avra Imperial Beach Resort & Spa
  • Heraklion International Airport – 165km from the Avra Imperial Beach Resort & Spa

For those interested in sharing transportation to and from the airports, a document has been created to facilitate communication with other registrants arriving at similar times. Instructions to access this document will provided to all who have registered or can be obtained by writing registration@elia-association.org.

Travel from/to Chania Airport

Car rental
As of the beginning of April, the average price for renting a car for 3 days is approximately €80 plus the cost of fuel for a compact car.

The trip should take around 50 minutes. Parking is free if you are staying at the Avra Imperial Beach Resort & Spa.

Taxi
A one-way taxi ride should cost approximately €60. The trip will take about 50 minutes.

Taxis can be ordered ahead of time and most taxi sites will provide a rate list which provides added security. It is possible to get a slight discount on a round-trip. Here is a partial list of available services: Taxi HermesChania TaxiTaxi SfakiaSuntransfers.com.

Bus
Public transportation is a very economic way of arriving at the venue but requires changing buses in Chania. The total trip will take about 1.5 hours, depending on the connections.

1. Chania Airport to Chania Bus Station

The price is €2.50 and the trip takes about 30 minutes.

The first bus leaves the airport at 06:30, then 08:15, but afterwards they depart almost every half hour until the last bus at 23:45. View the full timetable, and map of the bus station location

2. From Chania Bus Station to Kolymbari (Kolibari)

The price is €3.60 and the trip takes about 40 minutes.

There is a bus stop in front of the Avra Imperial Beach Resort & Spa just after the bus takes a right off the main road and in the direction of the sea. When you get on the bus, tell the driver your destination.

On weekdays the time between departures ranges from 20 to 40 minutes and the last bus leaves Chania at 22:30. View the full timetable for information about departures on weekends.

Travel from/to Heraklion Airport

If you are flying to and from Heraklion Airport, it is recommended that you rent a car.

Car rental

Bus
Though public transportation from Heraklion Airport is economic, a one-way trip will take approximately 4.5-5 hours including all connections. The trip requires changing buses two times: once in Heraklion and once in Chania.

1. Heraklion International Airport to Heraklion City Bus Station

Make sure to get on a blue local bus to go into the city. The price is €2 and the buses depart every 5-10 minutes.

2. Heraklion to Chania

The price is €15.10 and takes approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes.

The buses begin at 05:30 and run every hour until the last bus at 21:30. View the full timetable and map of the bus station location.

3. Chania to Kolymbari

The price is €3.60 and the trip takes about 40 minutes.
